Had an unconventional win with Stealth A just now, I didn't have any strong regular weapons and instead got a burst laser and a pike beam along with a hermes missile and a beam drone, but didn't have a lot of scrap to buy anything else. If you run into any event mentioning moons, COUNT THE loving MOONS It is all kinds of frustrating to run into store after store loaded up with useless crap while I have a massive scrap reserve just begging for a decent trade.Įdit: That in conjunction with Stealth 3 also meant I could fire two volleys before anybody could do anything.Ī!n fucked around with this message at 08:33 on Apr 27, 2014 I sighed and launched a desperate attack on the flagship, but the drone waves eventually picked my ship apart before I could finish off the enemy. Even worse, the enemy flag ship jumped right to the base on the interturn and there was not a store or repair station in sight. Instead, I barely scraped through the first boss fight, with my ship taking a hell of a beating. If I could have picked up a burst laser or a heavy laser or anything, the game would have been something like a cake walk. I was diving through scrap like I was Scrooge McDuck, but there was one problem: I could never find a half decent weapon for my ship. Eventually I was able to add an ion bomb and a crew teleporter, along with two mantises for a boarding party. I started out with a perfect snowball loadout, picking up the distraction buoy, long range scanners, and a scrap recovery arm on a Kestral B. I guess it's a good thing it randomly unlocked when AE released or I'd be stuck.ĪE made it so beating the game in a ship unlocks the next one on the list and I'm pretty sure it's retroactive so that's probably what happened. Pre-ignited Flak II with Glaive Beam comboĪlso I finally beat every ship on AE, and still somehow I've never successfully completed the Mantis ship quest. ![]() This turned out so much better than my run using Vulcan + Charged Ion, which doesn't actually work against anything with 3+ shields and high evasion.Ī busted-up mailbox fucked around with this message at 04:23 on Apr 27, 2014 I can't believe I almost decided to sell Breach and stick with Glaive + Flak + Ion when I got it. The boarding drone breaking into my engine room while my door system was broken and on fire was a hassle, given that I'd stuck with the default Kestrel B crew in order to afford Glaive, Cloaking, and the hull repair drone, but breaching the drone room twice took care of that, too. I took a total of maybe 12 hull damage throughout the entire battle the flagship isn't so dangerous once you've taken out two of its weapons and its whole shield system. Throw in a flak cannon and cloak stalling and you have a completely trivialized flagship fight. Bypassing shields, doing 3 system and 45 personnel damage, and forcing the crew to repair the hull breach first while asphyxiating to death, all on a 17-second cooldown, is just ridiculous. So it turns out that Breach II is one of the most overpowered weapons in the end-game, even more so than the Glaive Beam and especially in combination with the Glaive Beam. Time to hunt for the Slug/Mantis/Rockman ships. Looked over as I got knocked down to 1 pip just to see my drones deal the final blow. Had no way to repair, and no other options, so on the last phase I just put everything into my drones and spammed cloak. By this point I was around 50% hull due to the drone attacks. Got really luck when my drones took him out just as his boarding drones were about to take out some of my crew. ![]() Second phase had him hack my shields, and I kept blowing my cloak on the missile attacks, not the power surges. Literally last shop before the fight had another Ion weapon, which I replaced the Fire Beam with.įirst phase had him hack my medbay, and my drones refused to fight the missile guy, but I was able to cloak past the missile attacks. But I was having power problems, and knew I'd need more firepower to burn through the Flagships shields. Got lucky early on with a Zoltan Shield, which let me burn my way to much more scrap then normal. Had the Ion 2 and a Fire Beam for main weapons, plus a Combat 1/Combat 2 for drone support. Thank you for this suggestion! I hadn't even thought of backing up saves, just hit a Rock homeworld sector and did what you said, on the 2nd try I got the ancient device that sent me to the Crystal sector. I have no shame about this whatsoever after getting a Crystal crewmember probably over a dozen times without then having the Rock Homeworlds show up. I'd say once you find the Rock Homeworlds, make a backup of your save (you have to save and quit, then find the savefile) so if your path through the sector doesn't stumble across the event then you can retry. This is how I unlocked the Crystal Cruiser, finally.
